Went about 30 years ago and forgotten how good it was. Food fabulous, staff really nice and efficient. Fish sensational. Really generous portions and couldn’t squeeze in a dessert.., very unusual for me. Looking forward to going back!

Splendid fish and chips, service was excellent! The restaurant has a great atmosphere and Ocean road is a beautiful place, leading all the way to the seaside.

The food was brilliant, couldn’t fault it. Had the Indian style fish with chips , which was delicious. Will definitely come again when visiting South Shields.

The best fish and chips I’ve ever had!! Fish was fresh, flaky with delicious mushy peas and chips plus Mozzarella Sticks and delectable homemade patties . Would highly recommend this place!

Only just started eating fish, but what a place to start. On our first visit Cod Fillet & Chips it was smashing 10/10. So on our next visit wanted to try something different so had the Jumbo Scampi an absolute winner. The staff are lovely and attentive nothing to much trouble. Can’t wait for my next visit.

I’m not a fried eater but I easily ate my cod with fish & chips and the mushy peas were heaven. I will surely come back when visting South Shields again the Smithy’s Chippy staff was so helpful and friendly!
